be you

Come forth my son, strong in stride,

To days you choose to capture.

Neglect my tracks of fleeting pride,

Ignore my feeble stature.

This, for you, is why I dwell,

Ordained to be your father.

My time to come has shallow fell,

But yours must spur on further.

Soon you’ll wear these very boots,

Peering back toward your own.

Claim your journey, this world-wide trek,

Forge yours, not mine, in stone!

But…should you see a shift in heart,

To days that filled your roots.

I’ll gladly lead you up the trail,

And share this bygone route.

Our forebear’s day, lay not in vain,

With pride I hold their vision.

To build this ranch for unborn sons,

For future and their mission.

When your resolve has come to pass,

I’ll meet you in that hour.

I’ll gladly stand in your decree,

And help you build your tower.

So, come forth my son, strong in stride,

To days you choose to capture.

I’ll proudly stand upon your hill,

And look out across YOUR pasture.
